Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) (Points- tested) Stream
This permanent Visa is for skilled workers who are points tested and are not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated bye state or territory government. To be eligible to apply for this visa the applicant must have their occupation on Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and have a positive skills assessment form the relevant authority. The applicant must have competent English and be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation. The first step to apply for this visa is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) via SkillSelect and once the applicant is invited to apply for the visa, the applicant has 60 calendar days to apply for the visa.
Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
This visa allows skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government to live and work in Australia permanently. The applicant must be nominated in the occupation listed in Medium and Long –term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STOSOL) by the state or territory government agency. The applicant must have Competent English with a positive skills assessment and be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation.
Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 489)
This is a temporary visa that allows skilled workers to live and work in regional or low-population metropolitan areas of Australia for up to four years. This visa is for people who are either state or territory government nominated or have a family member or a relative to sponsor them. The applicants must be invited to apply for the visa and be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation. The applicant must have Competent English and a positive skills assessment for the relevant authority. If the applicant is sponsored by family or relative the nominated occupation should be in the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) whereas if the applicant is nominated by state or territory government the occupation can be in Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). The visa holder must live in specified regional area for two years and work for at least one year for a pathway to permanent residency.
